I have a 1972 f250 highboy. It has HD dana 44s up front and dana 60s on rear. I have drum brakes all around. Any suggestions on how to swap the front. Maybe from a late 70s f250. In the rear not to sure because there are no old trucks with rear disk brakes
No disc brake kits any more from the one company that was making them for closed knuckle D44's. Only other choice for discs is a later dent 76-79 D44 or a 76-77 D60 low pinion or a 77.5-79 D60 high pinion axle. There are companies that make disc kits for D60 rears. Just google.
I switched my 72 Highboy to 4 wheel disc braked, on the front I switched the front axle to a 1976 low pinion D44, it is a direct bolt in swap. By using the low pinion even the drive shaft was the correct length. I added a picture from when I was installing it. The rear was not hard to do, I just had to give up my factory park brake, installed a line lock on the rear to compensate for the few times I need park brake. Also added picture
