Thing of installing a CB in my 2003 Sport Trac! Anybody else done this? Where's the best place under the dash and what type of antenna did you use? Did you wire to the battery or Fuse Box?Thanks
I haven't messed with CB in years, but I often am doing RF Drive-testing in my 96, with an HP Spectrum Analyser. I pick up a large "noise floor" when the truck is running. There are so many current actuations (fuel injectors, ignition, all the rest) that it is a very noisy environment.
That said, modern power supplies are very good at filtering the environment, so I don't know if it matters, but our "old-school" theory would prevail, if I were doing it... coax and filtering and fuse from the battery.
Wherever you decide to mount it, make sure you get a solid ground for the radio. You want your RF load to develop across the antenna, not the dash...
mount it there than you can tap into the auxulury socket by just pulling up the console thing forward of the cupholders just pull it up it will snap off the auxulury socket is 25amps plenty to run a cb
