Need info for purchase
Hi all. I'm looking at Fords for the first time (Honda guy til now). I'm an artist, making sculptures and furniture mostly in steel so I need a vehicle that can haul supplies and deliver finished products.
I have been looking for older F150s with long beds. Not easy to find here. Short beds are everywhere though. Starting to consider maybe a cargo van as well.
Problem is, I know nothing about Fords. I'm looking for basic information about common problems, what's good/bad about certain engines, transmissions, model years to avoid, etc.. For example, it seems on the trucks the V8 and straight 6s are the way to go over the V6.
Is there any place that has basic buyer guide type information for the different generations? My price point has me looking at 86-00 basically.
