Good morning Junior! I'll fire up one of my fireplaces later today when I get home from work. Wish I had a wood stove in the basement though. My wood pile is also getting down low and prices in DE are very high. Need to look around in other states.

I started buying my wood from a local farmer a few years ago already cut and split. Once I figured out the cost of buying a log load, renting a splitter and all of my time to do the work it was about $10 more per face cord to buy it already done.

well luckily the wood is here free-log splitter is a loaner from a family member that don't use it I just had to fix it-so I'm lucky I guess-- cords were around 200 delivered-and now it's slim pickings from most folks I know that buy it-everything is NOT dry or seasoned- I'm hoping to get 6 or 7 cords stock piled this spring-so if someone else needs some good wood I can help them out-running low my self this year-and everyone is scrambling for seasoned wood right now-this cold cold has wiped out most folks I know of right now
one guy up the road is getting 280 right now for non seasoned mixed -mostly popular it's crazy~~~~~~~~

WOW that is some crazy prices there. The farmer I have been buying from just upped his pricing to $70 a face......I had been paying $60. Oh and I normally go through 10-12 face a winter.

now when you say face cord -your saying a stack 4x6x8 which is what an actual cord of wood is I believe? or so I was told~~~~

okay I just googled it-a cord is less than that 4x4x8
your getting a stack 4ft by 8 ft x the length of the log 16" or 18"
I do know in the city they charge $100 or more for what they call a rack which is a rack across the back of a pickup truck-only as high as the bed is
so your getting roughly 48 sq ft of wood-rather than 128 sq ft
now I am understanding this cord face cord rack system
we used to sell it by the truck load with sides on my truck was a bit over a cord I'm sure
but were only getting $100 to 110 but that was 20 or so years ago
