302-351w headers that fit gt40p heads?

Just wondering if anyone has installed gt40p heads In a 73-79 truck? If so what headers worked??? I have a 76 f100 shortbed that I am installing a 1996 351w 5.8 motor in and I am about to purchase a set of gt40p heads that are all rebuilt instead of running the stockers. I know there is spark plug angle issues and all of that just figured I'd ask to see what people have found out.
I looked into these but am not sure if they work with the plugs and my body style.
Also I'd prefer to run long tubes for the torque.

Thanks again!

Dunno man... you may wanna PM ultraranger. He's down with the 5.0.

What about these?: Ford Racing Mustang Shorty Headers M-9430-P50 (79-93 5.0L) - Free Shipping

Google "gt40P headers" and quite a few links pop up.

Sanderson has some shorties too: GT40P Headers

Yes, I did. Standard summit brand(reboxed flowtechs I believe) for these trucks with a 302. You have to clearance the header flange for access to the sparkplugs. Also you will need to run a 90 degree sparkplug boot on the #5 cylinder. The driverside header will have to be loosened and pulled aside to get the #5 plug out because the tube hugs the head in that area. Like I said this was on a 302 I know the 351 is slightly taller and a bit wider.
Where are you located? Shipping would be a pain, but if you are close, the ones I had are garage ornaments at the moment.

I'm in CT and why did you end up pulling the headers after all? And for clarification also how close will the 90 degree boot be to the header? Is it something that will burn or I will have to heat wrap?

I pulled them because I have Trick flow aluminum heads and bigger headers now. Ah yes, CT, almost as far away as you can get while staying in the lower 48

Oh and no never burned or had issues with the sparkplug wires. No heat wrap either.

Haha yes that would be quite the ship for a set of headers. No worries I think I am going to wait on heads right now and pick up a set of aluminums in the future vs buying one set and knowing I will be getting different ones at a later time... Any suggestions? what trick flows are you running and how do you like them?

I have a set of fast as cast 190 trick flow heads. I really like them. The down side is its time for a new clutch, the stock replacement I put in last year is not up to the task. With a 351 me personally I wouldn't look at anything smaller than a twisted wedge 205 head, although I have heard the new 190 11R heads are pretty nice.
Its kind of funny how I went from small heads and a dual plane intake to bigger heads and the biggest out of the box intake available for a 302 based motor and I picked up power down low from my previous set up and by far and away more power higher in the rpms.
Shoot me a PM if you like, I'll point you in the direction for tons of information on sbf's.
