let me start by saying I know ive seen this on here before.i need the measurement amounts to tell if its a 360 or 390. specifically when at bdc and a dowel is inserted and measured to the valve cover lip.

No seach engine required. If you refer to FE engine section of the Tech Thread Compilation ya would find a thread on it.
dropping a dowel into a cylinder is one way: 360 = 3 1/2" stroke 390 = slightly more than 3 3/4" 3.784 if I remember right.
Another method would be to see the crank or at least the rear crank flange.
If you can see the casting number on the crank, that would tell you.
Or, if you can see the rear crank flange where it attaches to a flex plater or flywheel, The 360 has a larger half circle cut out on an edge of the flange, the 390 has a smaller square notch.
