I had forgotten that you moved up to a newer truck and it is good to see some good real world numbers.

I've been kicking around the idea of a 2.7 in my next truck - how much of that is around town vs. highway? Start/Stop enabled?

Thanks!

I would say that it's about 60/40 split highway/city. Start/stop always disabled, or at least it is after I forget the first time it kicks off on a trip. Highway speeds around 75. Regular gas lately, but I was using premium(93) for a while. I was doing 21.5 on premium, 22 with the valance on. 3.55 gears.

Back in the game

My new-to-me 2011 hd. Searched a long time for this truck, very happy to get back into a Ford. Had the leveling kit installed before I picked it up, running boards coming off asap. New tires in the not too distant future, programmer and a few other things also in the works. Depending on how it sits with loads/trailers, probably putting airbags on this one too...

That is an impressively rare truck! Looks good and I like the mods you have done and have planned.

Thank you sir. Yeah, was searching for a few months and drove 3+ hours (twice) to get it. Seems like the perfect cross between my last two Fords (pictures below). Has all the high-tech stuff and nice color combo, and vinyl floors which were/are a must. Looking forward to really making it mine...

That F150 is easily one of the best looking single cab new gen trucks I've ever seen.

Thanks, again.
Absolutely loved that truck, bought it almost new and put 100k+ on it. That picture was taken after owning it for 5 years, pulling an 8.5'x20' trailer every day and the bed stacked with tools and materials and guys and anything else you can think of. Rebuilt the transmission after a few years of that heavy work, other than that no problems to speak of. With all my trucks, the idea is to combine form and function, and I'm sure this new one will be great at doing exactly that...

Appreciate the info on and real world numbers on the 2.7 - I need to take one for a spin soon.

Enjoy your new truck!

Thank you very much! I'm definitely enjoying it, but do miss my '10 quite a bit.

Man I'm sorry I totally missed that you bought a new truck a couple months ago. Congrats! Sounds like you like the 2.7 Ecoboost in that truck? I know someone who has a '15 Lariat SCab with the 2.7, he loves that motor! He traded an '09 5.4 in for it new 3 years ago and says the 2.7 will do everything his 5.4 could do, with better mpg! He now has over 90k on his 2.7 already with no complaints but he's getting ready to trade it for a new F-150 Platinum with the 3.5EB. I've always preferred a naturally aspirated motor myself so I have to say I'd stick with the 5.0; but that's why Ford offers both.
Sorry to hear what happened to your old 5.4, though. How many miles did you have on it? I have a cousin that just bought a 2010 F-150 XLT with the 5.4. Had approximately 100k when he picked it up. He's already having the cam phasers replaced. I've seen it once, the truck looks like it was rode pretty hard by previous owners so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. I tried to warn him away from it but it was the right price, options, etc... He had to have it! LOL

I know that it is not a '09-'14, but my truck is in shop for a few days and this is the loaner that my dealer gave me..... '18 basic XLT with the 2.7 Eco. With the few comments on the baby Ecoboost I figured that I would share. I can say right now that the 2.7 pulls as strong or is stronger than my '10 with the 5.4.

Oh and the loaner had 60 miles on it when I picked it up.

I am certainly happy with the performance of this little engine. It definitely moves the truck much more efficiently than the 5.4 did. Drastically quicker as well. I will say, though, that if I had been able to wait, I absolutely would have ordered a truck with the v8 and 6.5' bed. Unfortunately, I couldn't wait, and when I bought it the fire at the truck plant had just happened and there was so little information that my dealer couldn't tell me if I ordered a truck how long it would actually take. I had 160K on my 5.4.

Russ, that truck always looks sweet no matter what it's doing.

When I went from my '04 with the 5.4 to the '14 with the 5.0 I couldn't believe how much more room there was under the hood. Don't know if the block is any different in size but the 5.4 sat higher and seemed to have a lot more bolted onto her. I can't even imagine how much room there has to be with a 2.7.
