Engine whine
I have a 1998 MAzda B4000 4.9 V6 4x4.
I have an occasional whine coming from my engine when I idle. It goes away upon accelaration.
It seems to have started after I began towing a boat. This may just be a coincidence.
I thought the serpetine belt may have been slipping so I changed it but it did not help.
Anyone have similar problems?
Any help would be much appreciated.

It's likely your IAC (idle air control) valve. Clean it, or replace it with a new one from the auto parts store near you. Also, you can do a search on these forums for "IAC" or some other key words and find all kinds of threads on this topic.
