Stuck
Okay am flushing evaporator seems clean... using break fluid since i don't have a flush kit... load it up with fluid, block the holes and then let it sit a few hours and then do it again. Blow it out with air compressor, catch some of the outflow in a glass to see if it is clear or if there is any oil floating on it...
now the condenser-- fill that up and it seems to go straight through, is there a main pipe that goes from one end to the other with capilary tubes branching off to the vanes or is there one pipe that winds through the whole thing? it is factory (ford) installed. I ask bec i don't seem to be finding any blockage?
Probs found so far:
the orifice tube on the inlet side has 4 screens seperated by plastic, two of my screens were clogged up, very small particles, almost like mud, very dark in color, texture and color like lead, were a few small pieces of what looked like steel.
Do i need to worry about this? or is there alot more damage when the compressor goes?
This i think was the major prob... drained the accumulator and it had over 16oz of yellowish oil in it, it settled out and there are about 3 layers. bottom layer greenish tinted heavy oil, middle layer yellowish oil, top layer translucent.... LOL... yah think i overdid the recharging, leak seal, oil.... [kicks self] Think this explains my backwards guage readings?
Have a replacement red orifice tube... should i go with the vov?
Oil- i see where ford recs pag, my sys was converted to r134 from r12 by an auto shop and currently uses ester, since my components are for r12 and r134 will be stressing them with higher pressure should i use pag?
The only place i still have ester is the compressor, once i manage to get that off will drain it. But as i understand it i can't flush the compressor? so will the ester that is left in it cause problems with the pag oil?
Should i just stick with ester?
my compresor is an apco, no clue where it came from, i got this exp used. Where can i find data on the apco part number starts with a 7, the rest of it and the serial number are worn off.
Does anyone know where i can get a radiator rake/comb? There are some bent vanes/fins(?) i want to straighten out.
Thanks for all your help it is invaluable!!!
