Mid Fifty

They offered me $25 (they pay the shipping) for the original steering box from my 55.
Anyone have thoughts as to the fairness of their offer?

I pay $65 for the box shipped ($17.85 in a priority flat rate box) , I sent you a PM
I will buy all I can find so long as they are GEMMER 3CC03 and this is all cast into the side of the box.

That's for the cut-off box only, right? No shaft or column?

Have you got anyone else lined up to buy a 60 year old mechanical part? If not, $25 in the pocket rather than a greasy part on the shelf sounds like a good trade to me.

Ouch! I wouldn't even have asked if I hadn't seen what they want for the filler plug alone. Then in an email to me today MF said the reason they are interested is because nobody makes the housing any longer and they are having trouble finding them or rebuild.

I think Dennis Carpenter also pays $25. They and Mid Fifty only use the housing and the two covers. I'm not sure what you use, Kevin, but looks like you offer the better deal. Are there other parts you buy?

I'll buy anything if the price is right.

If you arent going to use it, $25 is $25. It might seem like a small amount for what it is, but from MF's standpoint, they have to make money too and they have much more time/money to invest into it as well.

Anyone else have any steering boxes they want to get rid of?

I'm curious what you do with them, Kevin? Is there really a market for the casting?

I have a friend who buys all I can find, He tries to pay a fair price to get the cores, and I think his price is fair compared to mid 50 or DC at $25.00 each

He is an older guy who rebuilds them, I don't know where or who he sells to though.
