460 SHUTS DOWN

I explained in my last post I have a 97 460 EFI. I'll be driving and the engine shuts off. Coil, ICM good, can find any shorts. When the key is KOEO it goes through the cycle with the fuel pump and clicking in the engine compartment. Sometimes it will go through that cycle over and over. Recently I was trying to start it with the key on and using the solenoid on the fender and it wasn't working until I heard the cycle start by itself, made contact on the solenoid and it started up. The engine stalls are becoming more frequent. The only possible thing I can think of is the PIP, ECU/PCM or the crankshaft position sensor which no auto part store carries and Ford told me today they want $102.00 for it. I don't have money to throw at the truck. Has anyone had this problem and solved it?
Thank you.

When the truck stalls while driving, does it not crank on the attempt to restart?

I'm wondering about you working at the solenoid switch for the starter, and then the comment about the electronics.

Yes it will crank. But the post above is the same problem that happened to mine and the same solution fixed it. It was the stator inside the distributor. I bought the part at NAPA for 47.00 and installed it myself without the use of an arbor press and without ruining any part on it.
