Evap Leak

I have a 2011 F-250 6.2l with a P0456 code. Is there a common fix for this issue?

Check and see if it's still under the Federal emissions warranty. It may be.

You are aware that the emissions warranty is substantially longer than the regular warranty, don't you?

Yes I know the warranty period for emissions. This beast gets driven a lot and is well past the warranty.

Just making sure you didn't overlook a problem that might have been covered under warranty. Many folks don't know about the extended Federal/California emissions warranty terms.

Fuel cap seal, canister vent valve, various lines and connectors in the Evap system would be where to look. If the truck is driven that much, I'd probably put a new Motorcraft fuel cap on it first and see if that does the trick since it's been refueled so many times. If that doesn't do the trick, I'd suggest you take it to a shop that has a good smoke machine and pay them to find the leak if you don't have that capability on your own.

What does this translate to (P0456 code)? I have an 2011, 6.2 thats goin in tomorrow for "Evap sensor switch malfunction, vacuum above max psi, wont allow bleed". Dont know if that translates to P0456?

One thing I'd recommend to all **** truck washers like myself is to relocate the EVAP vent line. Ford thought it'd be a stellar idea to twist fit the vent line into the box support cross-member. The one towards the rear that you can see through the wheel well to the other side. The very same cross member that gets the garden hose shot through it about every other day to rid it of the salt/slush. Well guess where that water goes, yep right down the vent tube to fill the canister! I replaced the EVAP vent solenoid as it was shot and let the charcoal canister dry out for a week before installing the new solenoid. I also ripped (twisted) the vent line out of the C channel support. Its now in a similar location but twisted downward pointing to the ground so I don't fill it up with water anymore. I used the same christmas tree fasteners that are attached to the corrugated vent line to perform the relocation. There is 2 fasteners on the line. Pull both out of the frame. Then use the fastener closest to the end of the line (where it twisted into the bed support) and push it into where the other fastener location thats closer to the canister. Prob solved, still in emission compliance. I cleared the light twice, but it came back.
Its scheduled to go into the stealership tomorrow. Its the pressure switch as they read it and had to order the switch. The tank needs to be lowered to replace that baby. So its covered under warranty for me. Well see if they get it right tomorrow.
Also check said errantly located corrugated vent tube for spiders and mud daubers. They will plug it and force EVAP codes.

For closure on my problem it wasnt the solenoid in the charcoal can it was a line on the tank. The stealership had to drop the tank to install so Im told. Light is cleared and has stayed off. Covered under warranty.
