Big dilemma, I'm new to the diesel community, I have a 03 f250 5.4l gas with 276k on it and just blew out a helecoil, this truck has done everything I've ever asked it to do and more. But it's time to go!!
Looking at 2 different trucks, an '06 and '07 both 6.0 F350 lariats.
first one has 44k miles for 20k with my trade, but has engine light on and at a ford garage getting repaired, they said it came up low boost pressure and needed cleaned because of carbon build up.

I was told that to go with the higher mileage one because if it had any problems, they would have already been worked out. The lower mileage one is just starting to have problems.
Maybe some of you 6.0 owners can ring in, need to make a decision today.
Thanks,
Make sure the truck is stone cold when you get there. If not, turn around and walk away. (Injector problems show up on cold starts).
You need to hear it HOT and COLD before you buy it. There are problems that show up both ways. Cold means off 12 hours at least. Hot means 20+ miles on the highway. More than a basic test drive.
To be honest, injector problems are one of the cheapest issues this engine can have. A little cold stiction is not a deal breaker. Even if it did have cold start issues a lot of what people call "injector" issues are actually FICM issues - and that only cost $200 to replace. I would go with the cheaper truck and save your trade to either upgrade or fix your 6.0. They are great engines with great power and great mileage but you gotta pay to play. Still way cheaper than any other brand of diesel engine. (and every bit as good - they all break down and cost a fortune to fix)
For all of those "scared" of the 6.0, my friend spent twice as much as I did on a Cummins, and he has also spent twice as much as I have in repairs over my 6.0...
