I am getting ready to install an EDGE 3” leveling kit on my 2002 F250 PSD. The existing front spring hangers have a bracket that is welded to them, a tube spans across the front of the truck, which bolts to these brackets. It does not appear that the new spring hangers have mounting holes to allow for the installation of this tube. Is this tube needed? What purpose does it serve? What is it called (jounce bumper?)? If you have installed one of these kits how did you handle the reinstall of this tube if you reinstalled it?
It sounds like you are referring to the blocker bar aka crash bar. It is hidden by the lower valence of the bumper and has three bolts that attach to the stock hangers correct?
The Edge offers a replacement "bash bar" I believe they call it. It will still remain hidden by the valance of the front bumper. The stock one won't work.
You don't "need" to have it but it will give you a stronger front end since it connects the two frame rails and was originally implemented by Ford to reduce the risk of smaller cars going underneath you during a collision. I like having it.
