Chrome plating

Does anyone have any local (Michigan) recommendations for chrome plating?

I would like all my dually wheels to match so I can rotate them instead of 4 polished and 3 steel.

I don't think there is anyone in Michigan. It's such a heavily regulated process. Here at work we use Pauls Chrome Plating. Just ship them your stuff, they chrome it, and send it back. They do great work!

Have you thought about ceramic coating or powdercoating? It will last a helluva lot longer than chrome plating.

I had QC coatings do a turbo manifold a while back in high luster ceramic coating and it was awesome. They also did my front bumper for my '04 F150 in high gloss black for $100, included prep and coating. You couldn't tell the difference between the painted fender and the coated bumper.

They're in Shelby Twp. Call them up and see what they say.

I was thinking about powder coating like Raleigh1 did to his 78/9 Bronco with the resto mod. He did chrome powder coat on some engine parts and his grill shell and it turned out really nice but it still has a silver look too it.

I just want to get my steel wheels and my polished wheels too all look the same especially when I put the chrome spike lugs on. The truck doesn't go anywhere in the winter so it doesn't see a lot of abuse except when hauling for the company.

Huh... news to me... they do bumpers for us, but I guess I've never tried rims.

Valley city plating in GR used to plate stuff. Not sure if they still do or not.

I'm thinking the only way to ever make them look the same would be to plate everything. If you are just talking about doing the inner rear steel wheels then I would just find some silver paint and get it done that way. It is going to be really hard to see the inside wheel anyway, which is why most people choose to leave black....

I think the chrome powdercoating is a good way to go for the inner ones. However, if thy were all chrome, rotating tires would become much easier.

Most don't rotate tire on duallys dues to the front outer being polished and the rear having the opposite side polished, the brake dust and road grime plays havoc on the polished aluminum. Unless you take them off every month and polish inside and out you will want to just not do it.

The guys that run simulators are the ones that typically will rotate tires around.

I want all chrome/polished rims for rotating, the truck is babied and doesn't see a lot of harsh.

One of my customers told me about a place in Muskegon that might be able to help you out! I am going to send some stuff to him as well.

That's a negative. Second question in the FAQs is that they don't do car rims. Different process.
