It depends on where the truck was in utah that you were looking at. Some of the more rural areas use very little salt. It's not near as bad as your neck of the woods, just typical rust spots. Were you looking for a F250 powerstroke, super cab, short bed, manual, 4x4? I saw one in the classifieds here and would love to have it for myself but just don't have the money at the moment unfortunately. I can send you the link to the ad if you are interested.

Idaho began with mag chloride about 6yrs ago but now are 100% sodium chloride in both liquid and solid form. They initially used it sparingly but now grossly overuse it. If the districts don't use use what was allocated to them they won't get the same amount the following yr. What a mentality, only a gov entity could get away with. Vehicle is white with salt for 6mos of the yr. So sad to think of the damage to the environment, infrastructure, and vehicles. The dept of transportation say it's the cheapest way to care for the roads regarding safety and lawsuit prevention. I'm amazed the DEQ and EPA completely turn the other way yet they'll cause no end of problems for so called comtaminated soil, emissions, etc. Big money is involved without a dought.

Brad, you never know what you'll find. I bought my 87 in Waterloo, NY -3 yrs ago- all it's Winters were in Florida. No rust at all. Bought a 97 Crown Vic from Rochester with 30k miles underneath was like new. On the other hand with had to have an 04 Grand Marquis with 30K miles from the Rochester area. What a rust bucket under neath.
I've had good luck with NC and SW Virginia vehicles.
