Hey everyone. I just got an 91 E150 high top conversion van for free. What I know about it is that it is a 5.8 l efi, auto trans with OD. The previous owner was having a problem with it overheating in traffic. Any common problems I should look out for with this vehicle? The vehicle has sat since 99 and I put a battery in it and it fired up immediately. Ran it for about a half hour in the driveway and no signs of overheating. But it should be a decent vehicle for trips once I am able to bring it home andf figure out the cooling situation. Any common problems with this style vehicle would be helpful knowing. Thanks

Get a Haynes manual and read Ch.1, then reread it & do everything. The radiator cap & thermostat are cheap, pretty easy to change, and often the cause of overheating. If it starts overheating, follow the troubleshooting guide in the front of Haynes.

Sorry guys, I wasn't looking for causes of overheating, I was looking for other potential problems I may want to watch out for and be prepared for on the van, i.e. weak trans, electrical problems, driveability problems. As far as the overheating problem, I'll track that down when I finally get the van to the house here. The previous owner still needs to get his stuff out of it.
