Supposed to snow soon!

They are showing snow for our opening of deer season this saturday. At least it isn't below 0f this year, it was a bit chilly sitting in the tree last year.

Yup. It was cold indeed last year.

Just finished getting everything ready for the hunt. Conditions look to be perfect here. Low 30's and fresh snow. Hmm... Only thing missing will be the deer. Only a few small rubs around the woods this year. Most years things are tore up back there pretty well. I suspect too much pressure as of late. My moms been letting anyone bow hunt back there and a few that haven't asked have been found in there as well. The neighbor set up a new condo-stand about 500 yds from mine two or three years ago and cut off anything to the north of me. He will shoot anything brown. Last year he loaded his third deer (two bucks and a doe by Mon) into the back of his Mule with one hand. I bet it might have weighed 100 lbs on the hoof. That kind of hunting (read as harvesting) irritates me. That is not the way I want to teach my kids. I tell them to watch him so they'll know the wrong way to go about it. Difference between sportsman or slaughter.

Good luck to all you hunters.

Good morning!

Good luck This weekend Denny! We are supposed to get a little snow too which would be nice. I saw the normal ground and brush scrape around my stand this year so there is something around. I as well am cut off from the south by a guy only 200-300 yards from me. Some years the deer come from his way and he gets them, other years they come from my way and I get them. From the layout of corn fields I see this year they could come from any way.

Good morning Pat! Tomorrow is the day!

lots to do today. Put the new tag on the hunting jacket, get the boots, snow pants, jacket, hat, gloves, and whatnot out and lined up. Coffee thermos, lunch box, pee jug. Gun, ammo, knife. Then have to cut up ham and get it ready to be cooked tomorrow while I am gone for the night time thanksgiving dinner. All kinds of stuff to do and remember!
