New Guy Needs help!
Currently I have P306, P351, P352, P355, P356, P357, P358.
History: I had new engine replaced 04/2014 (Broken Rocker arm in Cyn #2) Ever since, I've had issues...
First, P2004 (IMRC stuck) but truck ran fine...
Then, I began having misfires so I Replaced all COP's after I tested via multimeter to be sure all COP's bought in 8-pack kit from Amazon were working - They were, so I installed; still misfiring...
All Spark Plugs were replaced when I had a new engine put in in April, so I was told...not confirmed;
Node tested COP connectors and fuel injectors and all were flashing fine.
Added Fuel injector cleaner in gas tank...code P2004 cleared! Car ran better for awhile then rough with blinking check engine indicator appeared intermittently:
Went out and purchased a Scan Tool to obtain current codes.
Purchased mechanic's stethoscope and clearly hear all 8 fuel injectors working properly. BUT, found that 5-8 coils are loud and clear, but 1-4 are very faint compared to 5-8! This doesn't make sense referencing the scan codes!
I'm ready to pull the fuel injector harness and clean out the individual injectors, even though they sound like they are all functioning....thinking they might be clogged...also replace the fuel filter.
other suggestions?
Even if they put new gaskets on, they can still be defective and leak. (or been put on wrong and leak).
Also do run regular or super/premium fuel? Running better with injector cleaner and a code going away tends to indicate sub standard fuel in the tank.
Went to start the car up this morning and the battery was dead! Had to jump it last week but I thought it was because I was packing the car for a trip and the dome light was on for several hours...since then I bought one of those check battery through your cigarette lighter thingy (total waste of money) and the device read "battery good."
Anyway, while at the store getting a new battery, I bought a new fuel filter. Replaced both and ALL the codes were cleared! (I assuming because I disconnected the battery and replaced.)
Drove the car and still felt a slight misfire, though no codes. Later in the afternoon all the P0351-358 codes never came back, but, I did get the P0306 back!
Next step: Remove, inspect plug and COP again for cylinder#6 and swap with #5. Then, remove entire fuel rail and take off, inspect, clean and replace fuel injectors. I'm confident the injectors are working properly because under the stethoscope, you could hear them "clicking" fine and I know they are getting signal because I preformed a node light test and all checked out there too. Only thing left is thinking the fuel injectors are clogged, since the fuel filter was changed out and I got rid of all the 350 codes. I hope that it's just some crap got passed the dirty fuel filter and is stuck in injector #6. Wish me luck!
sorry, I'm not sure if it's short or long block...just that its the same engine that was supposedly the same as the original. It was new, not rebuilt. I usually put in Chevron or other "higher quality" gas...I just posted an update as to the other things I've done and going to do, but wanted to say thanks for your input.
