What is the bolt pattern for a 79 F250 4x4 wheel? I am looking at Trail Ready wheels and they have a 17x8.5 wheel but I am not sure of the bolt pattern and back spacing.

 

It should be 8 on 6.5

I can't remember for sure but I think it's around 4"

 

Back spacing is subjective. It depends on how much wheel you want/are allowed to have sticking out of the wheel well.

Generally speaking, half of the overall width up to 9" is the rule of thumb. The F-250s aren't as bad as the F-150s for interference behind the wheel. The radius arms will hit the inside edge of a 36" or taller tire at full lock. The F-250s have more room behind wheels. A 17" wheel should clear steering linkage and enormous calipers just fine.
