I will soon be in the market for an F350 Platinum, 6.7L, SB, outfitted with the 5th wheel/gooseneck prep, cab lights....preferably red...but not that I've thought about it too much. Upgrading from my sig truck for toting horse-beasts around KS, NE, CO, MO for my DW's hobby (you think diesels are expensive to maintain and care for...get a few jumping horses...unreal).
Anyway, I'm anxiously awaiting the release of the 2016 specs, hoping some of the bells and whistles make their way from the 15' half-tons...i don't care about aluminum, but the interior would be nice (although I very much like the 15' SD interior as well). In looking at all of these "sneak peek" long-range telephoto lens shots of the experimental 16's the dash looks like the F-150's (air vents, bezels around the gauges etc) which suggests the "digital dash" (sweet) will make it's way to the SD line...wouldn't be a surprise, seems Ford launches new tech in one line and migrates it to the other (4.2" productivity screen in my current truck came from the 2011 SD's if I remember correctly). Now, one must remember these are WIP trucks (works in progress) but I would guess you could discern a little about them from these shots, no?
Anyone looking for dramatic/sweeping changes to the SD line for 16'? Thoughts on what Ford has in store? Just launch the Atlas concept truck with SD capabilities?

From what I've been reading lately, the redesign will be a 2017 released in 2016 so it's a ways off yet. I too am looking forward to it though. There is a 2016/17 section of the board now you can keep an eye on too.
Be aware that MyFord Touch is being phased out and a new OS is being implemented (Blackberry QNX). Time is TBD at the moment, but the latest articles seem to say 2016 models will be the first implementation.
The Microsoft versions are now considered obsolete and won't get anymore functionality updates. Something to consider when dropping 60k on a new truck.
I been looking at the pics that they have revealed and I must say that it looks like they are going to have a megacab version of it or I at least hope so. Another thing I noticed is that the interior pictures do look like the new version of the f-150 but I think it looks like if it was a xl or xlt super duty. I hope the lariat and king ranch look a lil bit better than that. Lol

If Blackberry's around in two years they'll be lucky.

Yep, the mule pics certainly look like an XL Megacab. Will see...
Word on the street right now is the cab will be shared with the Fiso's. I would imagine unique front end styling though. I'm just hoping they keep the current formula the same far as solid axles and high ground clearance. I'm less confident in the latter due to CAFE regs but the aftermarket will step up there if need be.

I am in the minority on this but I don't mind the MyFord Touch system, it works just dandy for me....and I have only used it in rentals...I have straight Sync in my sig truck, which I like as well.
Thinking modest changes for the 2016 model year? I'm not going to wait 18 months...I'll have a hard time waiting 8. I like the 15's, and if the 16's are the same with a few small changes...I'm sold. It's all about the capabilities of the vehicle as a tow rig...yes it will be my daily driver (hence the Platinum) but ultimately it's going to be a more stable and capable platform I can drag horses around with...and can feel confident my better half can handle, and feel safe in if I cannot be there.

Vehicles in our weight class and above wont have a firm CAFE number to meet but some convoluted scale based upon wheelbase size. Industry experts are debating if some of the shorter wheelbase options such as standard cabs can stick around. My guess is Ford will figure that out, but more emphasis will be placed on mpg in the future.
