I tried searching but couldn't come up with anything. Does anyone know what the limit for weight in the bed is? I need to haul a couple bedloads worth of gravel up to my property, but my dad is convinced if I try to load any gravel into my truck (which is 100% stock), I'm going to max out the leafs and damage something. Thoughts/opinions/Go away you clueless whippersnapper remarks?
MAX. G.V.W. LBS. = Stamped on the 3rd line...at the far left of the Warranty Plate, located on the left door face below the latch.
This actually refers to the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, not the actual weight of the truck.
If the GVWR is 5,000 lbs., the actual weight of the truck, any passenger(s) and cargo should not exceed the GVWR
Printed on your 1966 F100's Warranty Plate: WARRANTY VOID IF MAX. GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT IS EXCEEDED
The maximum gross weight is stamped on the door plate. A new vehicle is presumed. They havent made these trucks in a long time, which is not a problem if brakes etc are kept in top shape. My 66 Merc 250 easily, and legally, carried 3300# of bricks. The brakes were not terribly strong but Im not a total idiot. As Banjo said the long box will hold about two cubic yards. I went in my 75 F250 to pick up two cubic metres of topsoil which was said to be dry. It wasnt but the trip was long so I took it. After a 25 mile haul - its hilly here - I had ruined the box, all the rear wheel bearings, and bowed out the tailgate. I think that load was about 3tons. But... the 390 loved every minute of it!
