Electrical Problems!

On my 97 Expedition my tow turn signals & brake lights do not work. My tow tail/running lights are working fine. According to my manual they are controlled by different fuses/relays. Fuse #1 in the power network box controls the tail/running lights, It was blown so I replace it. Fuse/relay #2 in the Engine mini fuse box controls the tow stop/turn lamps, it’s a relay. With the hood up, turn on the turn signal and the relay blinks along with the blinkers, I can put my finger on it and feel it blinking. I disconnected the connector underneath the Air filter box and tested for power. The brown wire(tail lamps) have power, Green and Yellow (Left & Right turn signals) have no power. At this point I'm about a foot away from the fuse/relay boxes with no power to my tow turn signals and brake lights. Sorry about the length but wanted to give as much info as possible.

PS I have also switched the relay #2 in the Engine mini fuse box with others relays just like it, still clicks/taps/blinks and doesn't work.

I'm about the take it to the dealer and spend no telling how much $. Can anyone help.

There may be another fuse box that you haven't found. Below the left hood hinge there should be a small fuse box. 1"X 4" plastic box. If it hasn't been opened it will have a wrap of black tape around it. Open it and there should be a couple more fuses.

Bingo!

The manual calls that box the "Engine mini fuse box". The only problem is the manual shows the location elsewhere and doesn't show the size. It showed the location to be another box with relays in it. Same number of relays as the actual box has fuses. I thought maybe Ford called relays and fuses the same thing. The manual shows the "Engine mini fuse box" to be vertical to the vehicle and actually the box is horizontal to the vehicle. Any way It was just another blown fuse. rclarke you are absolutely correct in your diagnosis, thanks for your help.
