Recently purchased my 2001 Excursion Limited with a 7.3l, Ive always wanted one and finally found a good deal.
Theres a few things that need to be fixed rust wise which isn't a big deal wondering if someone may know anywhere i can get factory or aftermarket body panels? Just need the Panel that connects the Lower B pillar to the Lower C pillar when you open the rear doors.
The Excursion Came with 4" Magnaflow Exhaust from the Turbo Back, and a K&N Cold air Intake.
I just recently Added 3 glow shift gauges , Trans Temp , Boost, and EGT.
I am planing to get A TS 6 position chip in the near future to try and help with MPGs, I am also starting my research for a leveling kit or way to level the excursion along with larger wheels and tires. Planing on staying around 33" tires and maybe 17" wheels.
You might find many will agree with skip on the filter. K&N filters are known for letting dust by which can ruin the intake wheel in the turbo. It is known as "dusting or a dusted" turbo. Do a search on it either here or on google to see some pics of what happens then decide on what filter you like.
That 7.3 should serve you well. Good choices on the gauges too! Keep us posted on the mods and whatnots.
ahh now that makes a little more sense , Im close friends with the Diesel tech that works on it for me when i need help and he said it should be good but ill see what he says tomorrow gotta get my backing plates replaced ,
Looks nice! Definitely post pics after your leveling too, and what kind you decide to go for.
What kind of weight is behind your Ex?
I'm seriously thinking about doing some of the spring mods that are here in the forums, the B/V code it think specifically. I'm working on gathering more information. Great how-to's but I'm still working on finding the correct vehicle(s) to pull them off of in the scrap yard and i'm looking for a second How-to thread to make sure I've got it all hammered out.
Will do i was talking to my tech and he said to just find front blocks because my ride quality is fine with me. and as for weight it had a 1923 tbucket that my dad bought and i towed for him obviously, i want to say it was 6,000lbs total

I have seen a lot of info thrown up here about suspensions and the like. I'm still sponging most of it up, I'm sure these guys will have an idea or two for ya. I'm leaning towards the B/V spring mod currently.
There is no other way to SAFELY raise your truck in the front, other than new springs packs, or a simple add-a-leaf.
You sound like a good candidate for an add-a-leaf, which is one leaf spring for each front pack. You would likely need new center pins and clamps, but probably not new u-bolts.
You can look online for some add-a-leafs, or call one of the site sponsors. I used ATS (site sponsor) for all new spring packs for my truck, but they can ship out some add-a-leafs for you. Talk to Junior, as he has always been knowledgeable, helpful, and patient with my myriad questions.
No matter what you do, please cross front blocks off of your options list. They are just unsafe and illegal in many states. Blocks in the rear are fine, fyi.
Edit: Just remembered that you can put reverse shackles on the front for a bit of lift as well. That may be another option to look into.
