a/c question
My a/c was redone about 2 1/2 months ago. I put in a new compressor, evaporator and orifice tube filter. I took it in and had the retro put on, vacuumed and charged. It worked great for about 5 weeks than average for about 2 weeks. Now it blows hot air.
I assumed that this was caused by it leaking out all of the r-134. A friend has a retro hose so we decided to check out the a/c pressure and charged it back up with some find a lead fluid in it. When he first put on the pressure guage it read in the red zone for overcharged. He then left the hose on the low side and let out a little gas. All that came out was gas no liquid. He added the can liquid only which it took very fast. The air was still hot. He then let out more gas and added another can with the gas. This didn't change a thing. It still blows hot air. The evaporator is warm. The line at the top on the condensor is very hot. The compressor seems to be working fine but no cold air. I don't understand how the gas remained in with the liquid finding a way out. I admit that I am stupid when it comes to a/c but could this be a clog in the condensor. Please ask as many questions as you need and I will do my best to answer what I can. I really would like this fixed without being too expensive. Thank you in advance.
First a little AC 101 .The following is a very GENERAL description!!!!!! The low pressure side of the AC system should be only gas at low pressure 15-40 PSI. The high pressure side should be at 250 PSI or so . The gas and liquid are both one and the same. The low pressure gas enters the compressor and is compressed and fed to the condenser and turns into a liquid at high pressure. This goes to the Orifice tube where it is sprayed into the evaporator and in there it absorbs heat from the air stream, turning the air cold. The liquid turns into a low pressure gas and is returned to the compressor. You NEVER LIQUID CHARGE THE LOW PRESSURE SIDE OF AN AC SYSTEM. this can damage the compressor when it tries to compress a liquid, which is not possible. YOU NEVER CHARGE THE HIGH PRESSURE SIDE OF THE AC SYSTEM, OR YOU WILL TURN THE LITTLE ONE POUND CAN OF GAS INTO A BOMB OR A ROCKET. AS IT WON'T HOLD 250 PSI !!!!!!! You might have a clogged Orifice tube. If you don't know anything about AC---- READ A BOOK, BEFORE YOU HURT YOURSELF.

Did you put AC oil in the system the first time you changed the compressor???? The system requires a special oil for AC systems and that oil type depends on the type of gas you are using. Go to the following and read about retrofits. www.aircondition.com also
