Newb here, new owner of a 51 f1

Hi everybody,
<br /
I recently picked up a 1951 ford f1 a couple of months ago and found this site. Ive been reading a lot of post and trying to familiarize myself with these trucks as much as possible. Everybody seems pretty chill and happy to help each other as much as they can. I got tired of standing on the side lines so I finally joined.

I was originally looking for a 1967-72 Chevy/ GMC short bed and ended up seeing this and I couldn't pass it up. I'm a ford nut but I love those style Chevy/gmc trucks. First time a f1 really got my attention was about 5 months ago when I saw one on the street. It was lowered but not too crazy, in pretty good shape but definitely not a garage queen, a good driver I guess. Anyways, the body lines of the truck looked so good and bad *** that I looked it up as soon as I got home. At the time I saw a few that were way out of my price range and then others that were junk but expensive. Kinda forgot about them till I saw this one.

Ok ok, details on the truck.
Clean title
When I bought it needed some things. One of the the leaf springs was broken and the other one was old and worn so a buddy and I replaced them. Replaced the rear right airbag, bought a battery for it, rebuilt the master cylinder, fixed the trans linkage, installed a horn, and a few other things. I still have to address the loose steering and my battery is draining some how but other than that she's a great around town driver.
Here she is, Peggy:
There's a reason Peggy stole your heart - she's a head turner. The moons are a much better look. Thanks for sharing and kudos for the pics.

Welcome, great looking truck.

The floorboards look original and in pretty solid shape. A compliment coming direct from the rustiest part of the US.

As you probably already know, we are here to help you with any questions you have.

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on finding Peggy!

I love her look, as this is how I was used to seeing these trucks in real life when I was in High School. If "Farmer Bob"wanted to use his truck on the road, he might spiff it up a little to look like this (minus the airbags, of course).
This should be a real fun and practical driver, and it will turn a lot of heads.
I agree with FortyNiner, the moons look good!

I like your choices in trucks. My first project was a 68 C20 that my son now has and is converting to a short box now. My last project is the 50 F1 I am driving now.

Yours is in much better shape than what most of us start with.

Congrats and welcome to the site.

Good to see another 51 and in really good shape too, not to many around that good. You'll get some flak about your manure spreader grill, pay no attention because they are just jealous. Welcome to the madness.

Welcome to FTE!

Where in CA are you located? Peggy's a sweet looking truck. I agree with everyone about the moons. That's a nice look. And the rear end sits much better with some springs under it!

When you say you got a horn, did you also get the original style horn button? I noticed it was missing from the steering wheel. The button, wire and assembly that goes inside the steering wheel are all available. I had to replace mine a while back (had a button on the side of the column).

Thanks for posting pics...

Thanks fellas,

Lol, I love that manure spreader!

The red button on the dash is the horn. I didn't want to mess with the dash so I put it where the cigarette lighter goes. I have a new aftermarket steering wheel Im going to put in after I address the loose steering. Once the column is out I want to reroute the horn on to the wheel.

I'm in So Cal, Fullerton To be exact, the city next to Disneyland.

I'm in Riverside, so I know of where Fullerton is.

I thought that might be what the red button was for... do you have the stock dual trumpet horns?
