do ground straps engine to frame or engine to cab etc
need the heavy quage wire ex;0 that the battery cables need?

No, You can get the flat braided wire straps that have holes on each end for bolts. They come in different lengths. They're on Ebay all the time or try your local NAPA, CarQuest stores. You can find them at any local flea market or car show.

My 48 had at least three (thats all I've found so far)
Batt to cab
Cab to frame
Block to cab
All heavy duty cable or flat woven
