HotRods Custom Inner Fender for 52
I ordered the inner fender kit from HotRodz Inner Fender Custom 1948-1950
I did not realize they were different for 52, and in a hurry was not paying enough attention when I ordered them... Anyone modify these to work for them? Anyone with an idea of what needs to be done to get them to work - or am I better off repairing my original ones and re-selling these to someone who can use them?

Depends on how bad your original ones are. If you have a set of original 52s, it shouldn't be too difficult to compare the differences and decide how much work it would be to modify the new ones to match.
Does Hot Rodz not offer the 52 versions, or are they unwilling to exchange them?
Even if you have to pay shipping and/or restocking it might not be much different that the hit you'll take selling them online.

Hi Andrew! A key difference is that little leg down at the rear bottom, that was used 48-51 but not on 52. The rear vertical flange of the 52 is drilled and shaped differently to attach to the cowl seam.
At the front, the 48-50 extends further forward than the 51 - 52's. The radiator saddle is in the same place, and the hoods are the same shape, so I would guess some minor trimming would get you there. Can you lay the old on the new to compare?

call HotRods
HotRods are smart folks, they will help you out, and work something out to exchange them, sure you will have to pay shipping, it was your fault, but maybe you can meet them at a show or something. I bought a lot of stuff from them, had some quality issues, but nothing was their fault, they made sure I got the parts exchanged without costing me anything. I like these guys because they actually have worked on the trucks, so they aren't just selling parts.

Thanks Ross!
Yes, it was my fault. I do try not to return parts, especially ones I bought a year ago. Even with re-stocking fees and shipping paid by me hotrods would lose money on the deal. I do not want that due to my error, and I can pass on the savings to another member if I decide not to try to modify them.
When I hold them to the car I see the same approximate issues Ross talked about above. I suppose I meant more from a how perspective... I could cut vertically and add a strip and reweld to the right length, I was just looking for tips from someone before I started. They look much more appropriate for the style of my truck than the old ones so I might get some new gas for the welder and just give it a go. Maybe I will be smart enough to take some pics and add them to this thread... or maybe I will re-sell them. Time will tell!
