i just bought a new set of 15-42-15 super swamper tsl's .i had them balanced and they were all at least 12 ounces off witch ment a lot of weights.and thats fine but on the way home i live about 2 miles from the tire shop all the weights on my left rear fell off there were 3 on that tire.so i went back to the tire shop and they rebalanced the tire and i dint get more than 3 or 4 miles before they fell off again .the tiers are new and the rims are not bent at all what gives the truck is a 89 f-150 4x4 with 15 inches of lift 12 suspention 3 body the front is a custom 4 link with a 79 dana 44 1/2 ton weak i know and the rear is a ford 9 inch also if anyone can help my motor is a stock 89 302 also weak for some reason the motor is blowing oil out of my throtle body and its running all over my air filter????????? what would cause this
You might try stick on weights for aluminum wheels instead of the clip on lead weights. On some rims you really have to bang lead weights on and make sure the crimp is good.
I use to pound them on sometimes with a 2 pound hammer. A regular tire hammer is no good on a 6 oz. weight. You have to bang the weight into the rim grove (so it fits into the curve of the rim) and then pound the clip snug. If the wheel weight has a gap between it and the rim, it will be thrown.
I bet this is what is happens because the only thing holding the weight is that thin clip with a 1/8 inch indent!
The other problem might be extreme vibration that is shaking the weights loose. 42s really are too big for regular balancing.
Not to state the obvious, but, unless it is strictly a street/light duty dirt road machine 42s are way too big for a stock Dana 44/9 inch. I bet the tires are pushing close to 130-150 pounds.
