ok. if i got a bendix box would it fit my71 straight drive column in the truck?

No.

Steering column is a different length with Bendix P/S.

You don't want Bendix P/S as all the parts are obsolete, the master seal kit is available NOS, but the sources that have it...want at least 100 bucks for it.

Bendix P/S: 1966/68 F100/250 2WD - 1969 F100/250 2WD before serial number D96,001.

Ford/Saginaw P/S: 1969 F100/250 2WD & F350 from serial number D96,001 - 1970/79 F100/250 2WD & F350.
