My question is when I have the A/C on Max, the Temp Control is not working.
I can turn the Temp **** all the way to Red and the temp stays the same, cold. I guess this is better than no A/C.
In the Normal A/C position I have temp control, but then have fumes from other vehicles and any other foul odor entering the cab.
The dealer’s service department says this is normal and there is nothing wrong with my truck, it took them two days of messing with it to tell me this, even though one of the service advisors checked another Ranger and he said the temp control worked as I would think it should. My understanding is the cold air is redirected over the heater core blending air to control temp.
with my 99 reg cab 2.5 on max a/c circulates inside air only temp control works i turn it slow to less cool and can also hear comp kick out/in when needs to
I have a 99' Ranger and temp control doesn't do anything in Max position either. My understanding was that it was normal so I never questioned it. I'd be interested in knowing what the outcome of your search is.
As I understand it, the system is designed such that the temp control will not work in max AC because no hot coolant is flowing to the heater core and the outside air inlet door is fully closed. Thus, the position of the blend door is irrelevant ( a good thing for those of us with broken blend doors..) and the only air going through the coling system is the already cooled inside air which continues to get colder and colder...
