Okay read through all the knowledge on here and cant find exactly what I am looking for, but I may be here and I just missed it also.
I have 2005 F250 with a 6.0, I had the truck through the winter in OKC with 0 - 20 degree weather and never had a issue and was not able to plug it in at all. About two weeks ago went to the mountains and it was 20-30 degree outside and once again didn't plug it in when I tried to started it it would just crank and it would act like it was going to start but wouldn't, I ended up trying another 10 times and nothing even after trying the glow plugs 10-15 times. I was able to get it started by holding the key for 30 - 45 seconds in the start position. I thought maybe it was a fluke so tried it again the next day same thing, next day and ever since I make sure it is plugged in and no issues at all. I do not know a lot about diesels this is my first one, I found 3 different option after doing research of what I thought it might be: FICM, Injectors, or Glow Plugs/ Glow Plug relay. I spoke to a local mechanic and told him what happened and he is thinking it is Glow plugs/ Glow plug relay however he has not had a chance to actually look at the truck. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

I would check the FICM voltage, using a OBDII gauge that reads live data would be easiest, but you can also check it with a digital volt meter ( there are instructions how to do this in the tech folder at the top of this forum ) The FICM volts need to remain above 45 at all times from KOEO, cranking, idle and WOT. If it dips below 45 during any of these events your FICM needs to be repaired and the best place to get that done is at www.FICMrepair.com . Another thing you can try is on your next cold start ( don't have it plugged in over night ) warm the FICM module with a hair dryer ( get it nice and toasty ) then try starting it
It also sounds a lot like when I lost my glow plugs. Try plugging it in for awhile like overnight or as long as you can and see if it fires up. When I had my GP's fail the truck wouldn't start unless plugged in, in any temp under 40
That is exactly what it is doing.. I plug it in it works great I dont and it doesnt want to start.

When mine started doing it it was only showing one bank of plugs bad. But when I ohmd them 7 where so I replaced them all and both harnesses as well as the GPCM because I already had one. And the starting issue was Gone Lol helps to have glow plugs. Take it to advanced auto or whatever you have around to scan for trouble codes. But you really should get something to watch live data. It's make it a ton easier trying to figure out what's wrong. I think I paid 50 per side for the harness and around 10 a glow plug
Iaff113 Thank you Sir I am looking at getting one ordered now and have already placed the order from XDP for glow plugs and relay.
Thank you,

Just make sure you can return them incase that's not your issue.
That was the first thing I checked before I placed the order but they are cheap I may just replace them anyways just for peace of mind. Thank you for all of your help I appreciate it!
