Complete Overhaul!

Hey, new to this. So I have a 1984 Bronco II that i'm looking to completely overhaul and I need all the info before I even think about buying/starting anything and to get an idea of overall cost.

It's in pretty good shape as it is. The engine and carburetor are completely shot so as it is now it sits. Very minimal body rust, however I'm looking to go all out on the overhaul. So I'm looking to replace the driveline, differential, axels, basically the entire chassis. I have the 2.8L and I'm looking to swap in the 302. However, I don't know that I want to put in the Windsor or the Crate/Boss engine from ford performance/racing (which is very costly). Now I need to know, are there specific years of these engines that I should be looking at? And what about when it comes to swapping transmissions and transfer cases? Do these years need to correlate as well? From what I understand I'm looking at a T5 transmission because I'm looking to keep it a manual vehicle. Also, looking to lift it. What are the best kinds as far as the Bronco II goes? Nothing too obnoxious. Also what kind of exhaust and intake systems did you put on? (Trying to keep the Cat off, I've ripped it off once I don't wanna put another one on).

Any help, specifications, information on models and years would be fantastic! I'm completely overwhelmed on where to start and don't wanna buy the wrong parts!
