Clunking during startup?
The clunking is just like as if a engine mount is broke. Or like a exhaust manifold is hitting the firewall.
But 3 mechanics had ID'd the existance of the sound, and OK's all suspect parts that may cause the clunking.
Any ideas??
I am replacing the <gone> upper arm bushings in a few weeks, but is the frame bucking that much to clunk around an upper arm?
Thanks guys......
At a low speed, with first gear held on, accelerate fairly briskly, then let off the throttle just as briskly. Did it clunk when you first accelerated </B>and</b> when you let up on the throttle? If so, then I'd say it's a motor mount.
Could it be the timing chain? I can't hear it on my Aerostar, but on my Nissan it makes an audible clanking sound for a few seconds...this is when it adjusts, they tell me.
