I have a 77 F250 extended cab, 390ci motor worn out. I can get my hands on an 82 E350 with a 460ci . I'm thinking of taking it and putting it in my F 250. Does any know if this will be an easy swap? I'm concerned about the motor and tranny mounts mostly. I like to spend as little money as possible any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Also does anyone know if my 1989 F 150 302ci/5L FI has more bottum end torque than my 1975 F 250 camper special 390ci? I'm still debating on putting my 302 in it or not. I like the power and fuel mileage the 302 gets. The body on my 89 f 150 is almost toast and I don't know if I should just let it go, or try and make use of the motor.
Let me ask another question - how bad is the 390?
If it were me I'd rebuild the 390 as it will take less time than converting to a different powerplant. Besides I love them Ford V8s.
Also the gas mileage you like so much on the 302 would really drop low if your towing, and power wont be there when you need it. Not much makes up for cubic inches (old school)
