Lately when making a turn from a stop, more so after having driven for some time on high way, my truck will shudder. The best way I can describe it is, it feels like being in four wheel drive turning on pavement except maybe not quite as bad.
As far alignment and balance everything is fine. When this happens I'm only going about two miles an hour. Usually it would be when I'd give a little throttle to get going, tonight is was with just letting off the brake and letting it start rolling on its own edging into parking spot as someone was pulling out
Still kinda sounds like a tire thing. Kinda like their rolling under on the turn. Pressure OK?
If were under power it would sound like the rear end is locked up & both rears are pushing you.
Is there anything loose in the steering or suspension that you've noticed?
Nothing loose that I've noticed. I'll check the air pressure. Didn't think of that. Don't drive the truck much at all anymore except for elk hunting trip from California to Idaho and back. Out to the duck blind and occasional camping trips. And getting Christmas tree tonight. I did have 4x4 issue on elk trip, still don't know what the problem was. Would not go into 4 lo.
Been doing a lot of searching on this forum and sounds like it could be the rear end. That's given my rear end is a 3.73 limited slip with a clutch pack. I know very little about rear ends. I know it is due (way due) for fluid change in rear end and from the sounds of things that can be the root of the problems. I'll check into it and let you know.
My 2000 with 4:30's and limited slip would shudder real bad as I backed out and turned first thing in the morning. I would notice it at other times too, but it was especially bad after sitting overnight. I changed the fluid in the rear differential and took it for a drive in a big parking lot turning several tight figure eights. It was better but not completely fixed. It seemed to get continuously better though and soon the shudder was completely gone. Mine was also well overdue to be changed.
How many miles on your rig? Check the front U Joints. If they are binding due to being dry on grease they will do what you describe. But so will LS clutches.
If you did the rear dif fluid and added the LS additive do a series of figure 8s in an open area to allow the fluid to really work into the clutch plates.
