I have looked everywhere in my owners manual and factory manuals for the torque setting for the sump plug !!!
I have been doing them up for years on various cars without using torque wrench but on this big diesel I thought I might do it right. I'd hate to have to remove a sump for a stripped sump plug thread !!!
Anthony- I couldn't find an answer to the same question either when I had a conventional drain plug. That, plus hearing the horror stories about stripping out the threads, and/or developing a leak, is what prompted me to buy a Fumoto drain valve. I only had to install it once, and now draining my oil is trouble free. Here is a link.
This little Fumoto sucker will do just nicely ..... of course there is no dealer in Australia. AAARRRGGGG HHHHH !!!!! Maybe I should become the dealer ...... [smile]
Model is F-111 by the looks ...for the 7.3/T444E Do you remember what you paid .... ???? I know a few guys here with these trucks we might be able to bring in 6 or so.
If I recall, I paid about $25US for it, and ordered it online, though they're within about 25 miles of where I live. What do you expect the freight to be to Australia? I don't have a clue, but I wouldn't be surprised to find that it's almost as much as the valve itself.
Having it installed makes an oil change easy, and a lot less messy. You'll like it.
I'll e-mail one of the dealers. Freight will be a killer probably ? I just got a quote to bring in my 4344 pyro and column gauge pod and wait for it !!!! ............... $61US ..... the pod was only $50ish.
Wait til the missus sees that Visa bill ......... but its worth it !!!!! I'll have to try and meet the mailman and grab it !!!!
I've done the oil change now and done it up without torquewrench. I'll go and put 10 ft lbs on it and see if it moves if it doesnt I can just undo and torque up ....
