IMHO Heavily brand biased. No real comparisons or reasons for recommendations. I own and use a Hobart 140 his top pick (other than a VERY expensive pro unit), I like it, but I've used several others and it is not the one I'd replace it with.

Good write-up...I especially like that fact that the author went out of his way to stipulate the criteria for the comparison up front. For those who are looking for a "homeowner"/"DIY" machine that can be plugged into almost any 110V outlet, this is a good article for you.
