I have a 2001 F250 V-10 4X4 Supercab LB with 6" Edge Springs that rides rough at normal speeds and on concrete FWYs. I have dual Bilstein's up front and singles in the rear. Has anybody had any sucess with shock valving or different springs to improve the ride? I spent big money on the Edge kit to get the good ride.
If I drive 75MPH and jump every dip in sight it rides pretty nice but the local PD doesnt agree.
I got the lift from PDC in Brea, Ca. He gets the springs through Donohoe/Deaver and he supplied off-the-shelf Bilstein 5100's with it. They are the Yellow ones.
I have heard from people who have tried both that the ones valved specific for the SD by Donahoe make a big difference in the ride.
OH, and the ones that are supposed to be used with the Edge lift are the zinc plated ones...
ToyTrailerDragger, Hey if you ever get into Anahiem where the 91 and the 57 fwy come together swing by our shop. We would be glad to take a look at your truck and see if there is a quick fix to making it ride smoother. Some shops will sell the wrong shocks with the system and it makes a world of differance to have the right shocks on the truck. Just give me a call and we can set up a time to look at it.. 714-632-3033 ask for Kreg. Donahoe racing has a lifetime warrentee and if it is not driving up to par we fix it.
whatever other heights he has???? could be useful info for other edge users.... seeing the shocks make his systems go from one of the guys to a wannabe *** system quality ride.
There aren't any shocks included with the 2"....the lift takes place below the spring pack so shock length isn't affected....but we all know upgraded from the stock shocks would be an improvement.
Anyway, here are the part number from fox-performance's site.
Stock-2" lift: BE5-2818-HO front and BE5-2819-HO for the rear....the HO means yellow finish. I'm not sure if they are available in zinc plating yet, or even if they will be.
3-6" lift would be the part numbers listed in my previous post.
8-10.5" lift would be the BE5-6249-H5 front and the BE5-6250-H5 rear......these are the zinc plated ones.
There are no part numbers listed for the 12.5" and the trucks I have seen with that lift have only had Bilstein 7100s, Kings, or Fox w/resevoirs.
Donahoe's site does recommend the race style shocks on the 8-12.5" lifts.
hummm.... i thought i read him saying something like teh 5100's were the only way to go with his kit? i guess the shocks have more to do with the ride than he lets on!
On the 7100s he supplies with the bigger lifts they are valved the same as the 5100s and I believe he can custom valve the Fox and Kings.
The shocks do have a good deal to do with ride quality. It's the combination of a good spring design and a properly valved shock that give you the best ride.
i don't know what i am getting at.... just thought i'd ask you here so ppl can get an idea of what shocks they should get if they didn't get the ones they were suppose to or if they wanted bilstiens with another manufacture's kit. do the same part numbers hold true if someone was running a dual setup?
btw... where the hell are the "FTE Introductory Special Shock Hoops by yeti" (shortened to FISSHY) ???
