Hey there folks - new to this forum - recently bought a 2000 Ford Explorer Limited (V6, SOHC) - I've had Merc Mountaineers before - I'm loving this new car, except for a couple niggly electrical issues - chiefly - the central locking, and power seats - nothing works - the seats have no activity/heat/movement etc, and the central locking has no function - from the remote fob OR the door buttons - every unlock/lock has to be done manually with the key and/or pressing the locks down. I've read several threads with similar issues, for the locks, and for the seats, but not together. Has anyone else had similar failures?
Also noticed the front cab lights don't come on (the back seat ones do) and the 'reverse sensor'-thingy doesn't work - again, nothing troublesome, just quirky..... the door locks also don't engage when putting the car into drive - the mountaineers did that - are Explorers supposed to do that too?
The power windows work just fine; and all fuses look intact - I've seen several posts about wiring corrosion where the conduit passes through the door - I'll look there next - thanks shorod!
Had a Expedition with the same problems. Pulled the kick panel drivers side and found 3 Heavily corroded connecters. Replaced connections and everything worked, even the key fob. Don't know if that helps but I hope so.
