I just bought a 1999 f250 supercab. I bought it knowing the Windows didnt role down and seat didnt move. Got it to my garage started at the fuse box.realized that the relay for dome light was not in found it in the center council. Put it in the lights came on. Ok good. Went to move the seat (had the tool box open) seat moved very slowly and the cab breaklight came on! I thought to myself wtf! Tried the windownothing going down pushed up the breaklight came back on. Nothing on passenger side. After looking around I discovered the widow motor is fine. Goes up and down when I jump it. Un hook the harness from the switch the dome light gets really dim. Get the test light out and the wire that goes to the motor sparked. I think I have aground issue. Where the hell do I start???!!! There is nothing obvious. But im sure its a simple fix but I gotta find it first please help!!! Ask any questions I am stumped.
Take one half of a large jumper cable, hook one end to the battery negative, hook the other end to a good metal place on the cab sheetmetal. A bracket or something tied to the cab. If that helps fix your problem, then you know you are right about it being a ground.
You can look around back at the bellhousing area, they usually ran a ground wire from a bolt back there up and bolted it to the firewall under the hood. If they changed the engine or the transmission, they usually forget to hook this back up. If you can't find it, you can add one of your own.
