I could think of a few things I'd want to monitor via Aeroforce on a "normal" basis, as a gauge. EOT for one, since the dash coolant temp gauge is so pitifully imprecise. I would probably set the second display for boost, or wire in an EGT probe. If I had an E4DOA, I'd def. set it for tranny temp.
I currently monitor boost/tranny/Oil pressure and EGT at the same time(not having to switch) with around $100 in gauges/gauge.
im not saying monitoring things is bad. or that the AI is a bad monitor. but AI and AE should not be compared, they are not even in the same and AI is nowhere near as capable as AE
Could someone please provide the part number for the aeroforce thats applicable to us? Preferably all black w green.. Is anyone running the optional coolant pickup and if so where have you plumbed it? Thanks!
Silver and black bezels come with it. I chose the green colored screen.
The column pod is for a SD with an auto trans. The pod for a manual trans won't have the hole in it. (Duh.) I used heat to soften the plastic and formed the opening for better gear selector clearance. It now just barely bumps it. There is no glue or velcro being used to hold it in place.

Perfect, thanks! Just what i needed.. Question the pod is for a SD? EDIT: yes superduty... Looks like its perfect for an OBS!? Howd you run your wiring? Merry Christmas!! Is it an autometer pod? EDIT: yes autometer... Think b4 u ask Corey!!
I like Chris' earlier response that he has both. That's the way to go in the long term. The question for me was which one to get first. I already had the AE system for another vehicle so the Ford enhancement wasn't such a major investment. Another vote for AE is their customer service is superior. Email them with a question and they practically send a crew out to rebuild your engine for you. That's my experience with them.
Once I get things all sorted out with the AE I'll get the Interceptor. I like the ability to add a couple of analog inputs. I guess if I was smart enough I could add additional sensor wires to the OBDII connector, but I'm not there yet.
I agree with Bob & Chris, I need both. I really like my AI but I should have a AE also. Tell me this guys, can the AE record a WOT run so my tuner can get my chip right? I've been fighting this problem for years and would like live dyno tuning but never can get around someone to do it. Would this be the next best thing?

AE can record WOT runs and put the data into an excel format or graph. But looking at data isn't quite the same as feeling/hearing how the truck responds.
I've diagnosed a bad T500 (new) and emailed the AE data to Joey. He looked at it and agreed we needed to send the pump back in.

Bob, the AI has two wires for an analog input. I don't think adding anything to the OBD port will do anything. These are 0-5 volt inputs so in addition to the sensor you have to use a 5v power supply. These are available from Aeroforce.
You can monitor more than one sensor on each input with a switch between the different sensors. So you aren't necessarily limited to two sensors, it just gets a little more complicated. I've read where some people do this on regular gauges too, switching between oil and water temps for example.
The gauge end of the wires that connect to the OBD port plug into the gauge via a connector.
Each gauge also come with a 3 wire pigtail that also plugs into the gauge.
Two of the wires are for the analog inputs. The third is to be connected to a switched power source if needed. The power wire to the OBD port on some PSDs area always hot, so the gauge doesn't turn off. My '96 didn't power off.
There is a jumper on the back of the gauge you remove. This tells the gauge to look for power on the third wire. I forgot the name, but it is a double fuse that replaces an existing fuse and gives you an additional fused wire for an accessory. 2amp was the smallest fuse I could find. The gauges uses like .5 amps. I picked a switched circuit, the wipers I think.
This three wire pigtail was rather short, about 12" I think. I soldered wire extensions to all three as I didn't want to have to pull this out to add additional length later if/when I wanted to use the two analog inputs. The one for power I made sure was long enough to route to the fuse box. The other two I left long. In fact, I had bought two small rolls (like 25' In think?) of wire and I made the connection and left the remaining wire still on the rolls, and tie wrapped them under the dash.
I'm now seriously thinking about getting rid of the edge CTS and investing in one of these monitors. I guess my question is which one to go with first. I am thinking going with the one that can do an injector buzz test?

Getting closer and closer to being able to buy the AE. I could probably buy it now, and just have it shipped to my Mom's, but I still have a school and car loan to pay off still. Tax season can't come soon enough!
