Sometime when the ignition is turned only a click is heard. Several tries and several clicks then all of a sudden truck starts. After starting speedometer wont work then it will start working. Truck runs great. This problem does not happen all of the time but often enough to not trust the truck on long trips. Ignition switching block has been replaced. Any ideas would be helpful.
All of the cables are good. The odd part is it don't happen all the time. When it does crank the starter turns the motor over good. I wonder if it is a relay because the speedometer wont function and haul light flashes.
Any help is appreciated.
My Camry had the same symptoms but it didn't happen all the time ... just once in a while. Over about 6 months, it did get a little worse until one day ... nothing. It would only click once when the key was turned and wouldn't start. It was a starter that finally died.
I found a connection between the main battery cable corroded at a joint on top of the left plastic fender skirt ,under or behind the aux fuse box. cut the corroded parts out put new lugs ,bolted them together taped them real good and problem solved. mine was intermitent also.
