Have you by chance changed the Glow plug relay? If you have, are you sure you didn'g get a starter relay?

Huh? You need to be a little more clear on what you are experiencing to get the help you need. Starter wire? Grounded to what? You used the starter relay for a GP relay? Better info would help us help you.

You can not use a starter relay for the glow plugs. The starter rely ground threw the base. The glow plug relay ground thew the PCM signal. The PCM kills the ground signal after approx. 2 minutes thus shutting the relay off. The starter relay is keeping the relay grounded thus keeping the relay on.

Are you sure you hooked up the right wires to the terminal? Should be a wire diagram in your Chilton or Haynes manual.

This man (Tom) nailed it, you should read his comment a few times.

If you put a push button in to power the starter relay that you are using to power the glow plugs than it should not be getting power to run the glow plugs while your not pushing the button. If that's the case you have wired that part wrong. If you are using the original control wires to power the "starter relay" than it will stay on because the + control wire from factory is constant power. In which case it's wired wrong. Also how do you know the glow plugs are staying on. A starter relay is not rated for the power you are demanding for the glow plugs. It will burn out more often.
