tire sizing
i have 265 70 17 and i need tires for winter. i was thinking about getting maybe a taller tire like a 285 70 17. has anyone went bigger than stock size and liked the results .i think the stock size looks too small in the wheel well. want something that looks a little beefier.06 250 sc sb 4x4 . also want decent snow traction as i do plow.

I run 285/70/17's but they aren't off road tires, highway tread. I like them, fill the wheel opening better and ride softer than oem since max psi on them is 65. It sets off the tpms and of course makes the speedo/odo off. Have a tuner to correct the speedo/odo though.

Remember, the wider the tire, the harder it is for it to cut through snow/water.
That said.... Duratracs. I plow with 315's and LOVE them. On/off road, snow, rain, towing, plowing, best tires I have ever used.

Whats the overall size that you are running? I have the stock michelins and I really like them , but I think the truck will look better with a slightly taller tire.

315-75-16E Duratracs. Comes out to a hair under 35".
Gotta remember, metric tires the first (3-digit) number is the width in millimeters. The 2nd number is the profile/height of the tire.
