hi everyone this is my first post here. ill come out and say it im a Chevy guy this ford stuff is new to me but im gonna give it a try. i just acquired a 76 f150 with the 360 and wanna make it a street strip truck something like 80/20 to 90/10 area. been doing a little research and i think im going to go with a quadrajet for the carb since i have one on the shelf. as soon as i get the money im going to get headers. for intake that's where im asking you guys or girls for help. im looking for the cheaper side for parts since im gonna be going through college and doing the build. so far ive found that ford did make a stock 4 barrel intake for the fe motors but what size engines? im gonna be junk yard hunting so any suggestions on what to look for or what to stay clear of? and any other suggestions or ideas for the general build would be great.
Forget trying to make a performance engine out of a 360.
The 360 has a piston that is over .100, maybe closer to .120 down the hole. You will never make a performance engine with no quench and compression in the low 8s if not high 7s.
FE motors won Le Mans, NASCAR, drag races by the millions. NONE of those FE motors was a 360. All those parts will bolt up to your 360, but that's like formal wear on a toddler.

OK, still gotta do it? Here is what you need: Ford iron S or T 4bbl manifold. Smallish vacuum secondary carb, 600 CFM is plenty. Cheap headers if you can stand the headache of cheap headers. Dual or big single exhaust. A little ignition advance and you have noticably more power with the same dismal fuel economy. If you want an aluminum manifold, any swap meet dual plane will work, with the Performer a good choice. Read more and more and more:
