Isn't It The Strangest Feeling Driving Something Other Than Your Truck?
Isn't one of life's most unfamiliar feelings when you get into another vehicle that is night and day from your SD?
Hopping into a car, especially when you haven't been in one for a long time is one of the most unnatural feelings. I can't help but look over at the passenger seat and think to myself "that's just about the location of where the center console would be in my SD." Even a full size SUV like a Tahoe or Suburban doesn't seem worthy of the title "full size" anymore after being used to your truck.
It doesn't seem right to say this, but truthfully, I've become so accustomed to my truck with the 6" lift and 37" tires that it's the "norm" for me and that whenever I get into anything else, it seems as if the world around me has dwarfed.

I daily drive an 06 Crown vic to work and then either another crown vic or explorer for 8 hours. However, when I do drive my truck it puts a smile on my face...literally. I love the loud exhaust, hum of the tires and sitting above most other vehicles. I'd drive it all the time if it was cost effective.

YES !!!
and it must be contagious, because my wife wanted out of her car and into something taller like her 2013 Sport once she saw how much more of the road she could see from "up on high " !
but trading trucks with my stepson this week gave me a nice little break from it - I COULD drive one of these if it would pull my 16k 5er :

We , meaning the wife and I , have an 08 escape with the 4x4 package , which is her daily , and I have my 99 superduty scsb 4x4 with a 4 inch lift on 35s, which is my daily , and I have my fox mustangs , 2 of them.
The escape isn't too bad of a switch, but the mustangs are like sitting on the ground .
I can't see much around me in the cars , but two things bring a smile to my face when I drive the mustangs .
500 hp in the one that weighs 2000 lbs.
And 320 hp and 3200 lbs , that is like riding on rails ,
And knowing what it is like to have a truck the size of mine , pull up behind you at a traffic light.

My daily driver/commuter car is a Geo Metro with the 3 cylinder (993 CC 52 HP 58 ft-lb) so yeah, it is very refreshing to climb back into the 4" lifted EXcursion on 35"s for family outings and trips. Aside from the Metro's stunning performance envelope there is a slight size difference, the Geo is only about 12' long and the EX/TT combo is just over 61' long.
When I'm driving the EX (and smiling ) it really is a different world! It's nice to look over other vehicles rather than under them.

I've been accused of being obsessive/compulsive, and I may be. To me it's not the vehicles physical size differences but rather the different location of the various controls. My most notable confusion comes when switching between my daily driver (Honda RidgeLine) and my wifes' driver (Honda Pilot). Her gear selector is somehow different, as are the wipers and headlight switch locations/operations.
I've not yet mastered (without looking) the heat/AC controls in either buggy, and I've been in the Ridgeline for two years. My old F150, and current F250 have the ideal Heat/AC controls. I don't need to look at them.
