engine idling rough questions
i have a 97Expedition XLT 4.6 with 109000, all maintenance is done on time , the last week or so the engine idles very rough and shakes, this is only when the car is in drive and stopped at lights etc.
i was wondering what might be causing this, i woudl like to get it fixed as soon as possible.

IF the engine only has this problem under a load (ie in gear), then I would bet you that you have one of your plugs going bad, or if you have the Coil-On-Plug set up in your engine, then it is one of your coils. This just happened to me, and I thought it was transmission at first, but my Ford Mechanic Guru found my problem right away cause he had replaced many coils for this same problem. He explained that if its a coil or plug going bad, it will only do this under load (due to higher compression in the cylinder causing the plug to have to work harder to throw spark).
