Wiper control problem.

The patient is a '92 F150. The wiper control will turn on an off of the slow and fast continous setting ok. If I turn it on to intermittant, it will only operate at the slow continuous mode and will not turn off. I have to kill the motor to get the wipers to turn off if engaged through the intermittant setting or the mist setting. Similarly, if I depress the window mist button which also turns on the wiper, it will not then turn off. I was thinking maybe it was a ground problem. I don't even know how to replace the switch if that is the problem. I guess it could be in the motor itself. What do you suggest?

Wiper control problem.

The wiper control switch can cause a lot of grief as can the control module. My problems have always been the switch ( not wanting to work on ittermitent, cured temporarily with contact cleaner) but the problem you are having sounds like the auto park contacts in the wiper motor are sticking causing it to run continuosly. I had a similar problem in a Ford ranger I had a few years back. I went to a salvage yard for a replacement motor and no more problem.
