Blown 360
Blew my 360 in my 70 f-250 4x4 w/ 4 speed.
Problem-I found a decent 390 out ot a 76 f-250 w/c-6
Is the crank in the 390 drilled for a pilot bearing?
If I decide to use the c-6 is there any problem just bolting in the unit and shorting the drive shaft? I do realize there are other things to consider like coolers and kick down. I'm just worried about tailshaft length and etc. Also is the electronic ignition on the 76 a decent setup or not? Hopefully I have provided enough info.
Thanks
Dave
Yes, all cranks are drilled for a pilot bearing.
I'll let the 4x4 experts tackle the C6 question.
Yes, the Duraspark is decent but I'd get everything in and running first before upgrading.

The duraspark is a good set up once you get it all wired in. I have converted a couple of my own trucks and after getting it installed was happy. Plus side is you can find cheap or free parts. Don't forget to run a wire from the ign. on the starter relay to the switch side of the coil. I failed to do this on my first conversion and had hard starting problems in the cold weather since the wire from the switch is a resistance and you need full 12 volts to the coil for cold startup.

Around 77 the 4x4 250's had a tailhousing on the C6 with a bolt hole to mount your 4x4 shifter. You have to shorten the rod but their out there and fit perfect. Got one on my crewcab now. if you can find one you won't have to fab up anything. i have pics if you need some.
